This season I decided to have shoulder surgery and compete afterwards. Thankfully I had an amazing physical therapist, Chad Frasier, who worked with me in depth in order to prepare me for the season. I met Chad when he brought some of the performers from Cirque du Soleil to train some at Ninja Quest Fitness and when he saw how much we go through as competitors he decided to help me get ready for competition. If it was for him pushing me through the recovery process I doubt I would have been as confident as I was going into Season 8. It was a challenging course and we only had 10 clears in the Qualifying Course and I was one of them! My city finals run was fast forwarded but I managed to make it to the back half of the course fast enough to move on to the National Finals once again.
Making it to the National Finals after a short recovery time post surgery was already more than I was asking for this season. I wasn't as strong as I could have been but gave it my all regardless. I was extra cautious on the majority of the obstacles and by the time I got to the final one I was extremely short on time. The Flying Squirrel was a new one which was a wide grip and big toss. After a few attempts to build up momentum I went for the transfer, saw I was going to come up short and didn't want to risk possibly undoing all the work done on my shoulder so fell after a one handed attempt. All and all a good comeback season but still leaving me with more desire to go further.
