No footage of my Qualifying run this year! Season 6 marks the year that things were really ramping up for the show and its popularity. I cleared the course with no sketchy saves or anything of note so I was shown after a commercial break as one of the fast forwards that episode.
Wanting to keep my reinvigorated motivation alive and redeem myself from my early Stage 1 fall from the year prior I attacked the course with my usual passion. This season things were starting to become more difficult with obstacles that required multiple grabs or various techniques to accomplish them. I had a close call on the Minefield with a grab that could have been considered "out of bounds" had I held on much longer. This also marks the first time ANW started showing the traditional back slaps that me and good friend Mike Bernardo would do before our runs as a homage to the Japanese competitors on Sasuke.
Back on Stage 1 and I was fired up and shot out the gate after a good old back slap from Bernardo. Besides my concern with the Jumping Spider from falling there the year prior, the Silk Slider was taking out a surprising amount of competitors. The obstacle wasn't hard to hold on to but the landing pad was small and slick. I had a great save, magically sticking to the spot I hit and went on to clear the course with another close call on the Half Pipe Attack
Back on Stage 2 for the first time since season 3 I was a little nervous. My nervousness once again affected my ability to attack the obstacles with the confidence needed to complete them quickly. Not much time is allotted for stage 2 and I got hung up on several obstacles / hesitated too much prior to starting them which left me with less than 30 seconds to complete two obstacles. The Metal Spin was something I've done before but I rushed the take off and misplaced my hand when trying to grab the chain and slid down too low and hit the water before I could get traction with my grip.
