Third time's a charm! Back for another crack at it and my game plan was the same as the year prior, go fast and clear in order to make the top 30. The Bridge of Blades was slightly redesigned and that was causing a lot of shocking falls. But after that thankfully I was able to clear the rest of the course just over a minute which put me in the top 30 for the second round.
After my embarrassing fall last year I was more focused than ever. The order we ran in was determined by our run times from the previous round, slower clear times go sooner. I was 7th to go out of 30 so I didnt have much to go off of when it came to learning from other competitors. So I made it through the first half of the course in a similar time to my first run and I was back where I was the previous year. I tested out the trampoline before jumping this time and got to the salmon ladder no problem. What was giving people a hard time was the unstable bridges right after the salmon ladder due to the high winds that day. After swinging for what felt like forever I was the first to make the transition to the second board and cleared the obstacle, barely making the dismount. I climbed up the 30 foot cargo net at a snail's pace but cleared, securing my spot in the top 15 to move on to ninja boot camp.
Making it to Japan was a dream come true ever since I first saw the original episodes on the G4 channel. We had a week in Japan where we did various activities from your typical sightseeing to more unique things like kendo training. All of this led up to our course runs on the final day in Japan. Stage 1 was a challenging course with tricky obstacles and a race against the clock. I had a crazy save on the Half Pipe Attack and barely managed to clear that stage with a few seconds left. Stage 2 was all speed and power with very little room for error with an even shorter time limit and more challenging obstacles. The Metal Spin was taking people out and I barely held on but moved on to stage 3. We started at 10am but at this point it was around 1am when we started stage 3 so it was an exhausting day. I got to the Ultimate Cliffhanger but couldn't make it past the big transition to the 4th rail.
